Hip and Hup might have you going “huh?” They look like giant guinea pigs, but these two cuties are cavies. And they are two of the newest educational ambassadors at Wild Friends, Best Friends’ state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitation and education program. The pair came to the Sanctuary from a zoo that closed, where they’d lived in a bare cement enclosure. Underweight and nervous at first about their new digs, which includes a sand pit for rummaging and rolling, Hip and Hup are flourishing now. They enjoy food puzzles, sand baths, and plenty of fresh veggies and hay. And life’s looking good.
