When Gonzo’s family could no longer care for him, the shy little bird landed here at the Sanctuary. Due to his person’s failing health, he had not been handled much for a few years, and that, coupled with his own declining vision, meant he wasn’t very comfortable leaving his perch. But with time and patience, he slowly started warming up to his new human friends. As long as everything is calm and he’s feeling safe in his space, Gonzo is happy to sing and chatter at visitors. And while a lack of depth perception might cause him to overshoot and launch himself at his caregivers when he’s asked to step up, he’s trying.
